Russian Open School Astronomical Olympiad by Correspondence 2005

General Rules

Founders. The Founders of Olympiad are:
Euro-Asian Astronomical Society;
Russian Amateur Astronomical Magazine "Stargazer";
Sternberg Astronomical Institute of Moscow State University;
Moscow Open Education Institute;
"Physicon" Company.

Conduction. Olympiad is being conducted in one theoretical stage by correspondence (surface mail).

Language. The languages of Olympiad are Russian and English.

Participation. The participants of the Olympiad must be students of the secondary schools and can not be elder than 18 years at the date of the submission deadline. This fact must be confirmed by the document from the school. The participants must be able to write the solutions in one of Olympiad languages by themselves.

The submission of the papers. The papers with the problems solutions must be handwritten and passed by the surface mail to the address given below. The paper must be individual (i.e. written by one author). Each participant may submit not more than one paper with solutions.

The submission deadline. The papers must BE COLLECTED in Moscow not later than January, 31th, 2005. Please use the Par Avian or DHL post and estimate the time of postal transport from your city to Moscow.

Summarizing. The Jury will summarize the Olympiad and announce the names of winners not later than March, 1st, 2005. The winners' names and solutions of the problems will be published in the "Stargazer" magazine and this site.

Rewarding of the winners. The winners will be rewarded by diplomas and prizes.

Address for Submission

The handwritten papers with the solutions must be sent by surface mail to the address

Sternberg Astronomical Institute, Universitetsky prosp., 13, 119992, Moscow, Russia.

The words "Astronomical Olympiad" must be written on the envelope.

The document written in Russian or English confirming that the student is currently studying in the secondary school must be added to the paper. This document also must contain the data about the age of participant, the form and school number, the city and country. This document is necessary for participation in the Olympiad. The contact information: family and given names, home address, phone with country and city codes and e-mail address, if it exists, should be written in the paper with solutions.

Printed papers, solutions sent by fax or e-mail and solutions without document will not be considered.
